Does God Care About Little Things?

Rumblings – chore charts – lost keys. What do these three things have in common? These are a few of the “little” things in the scope of the world. They can feel too little, too insignificant to pray about, but God says to bring all our cares to Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7.)

Pregnant rumblings. Genesis 25 tells us that Rachel was barren and Isaac prayed on behalf of his wife. She became pregnant and there was turmoil in her womb. Verse 22 (NKJV) says that Rachel asked God, “If all is well, why am I like this?” And then God, the Creator of all the universe, tells this one little mother why there was rumbling in her body in the following verses. That’s a little thing in the scope of the world – a pregnant woman’s question, but our God cares about the questions we have, big and little.

Chore Charts. Teaching a work ethic to my children is important to me. I wrestled with how to teach these values to my kids and we had rumblings often! So, I began to ask God to help me teach my kids. Five different times God gave me creative ways to develop chore charts to help our home run more smoothly. As my kids grew, the chore system needed to change, and I sought His direction each time. It’s a little thing in the scope of the world – a chore chart for my family, but our God cares about the questions we have, big and little.

Lost keys. Last week at church, a young mom could not find her keys. Many people looked EVERYWHERE for hours. We prayed for God to help us find them. About an hour later, I got a phone call, “I think I have someone’s keys in my bag. I don’t usually start my homework for the week, but I kept feeling compelled to get my Bible study book out and look at it. When I did, I saw a set of keys that aren’t mine.” It’s a little thing in the scope of the world – a set of keys, but our God cares about all the circumstances in our lives, big and little.

My mom would say this quote as I was growing up, “I know God cares about little things, because God is the Lord of my life, and my life is made of little things.” I am thankful for many of the qualities of God. One of the things I am grateful for is that He cares about little things.

1 Peter 5: 7 AMP “…casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].”

Note: Read verses 6-11 to get all the goodies here for every child of God!
